Support the procurement and operational support of COTS Satellite Control Systems for the operations (commanding and monitoring the health and safety) of the Intelsat satellite fleet and 3rd-party customers’ satellite fleet. Lead and support real-time telemetry processing, commanding and flight dynamic applications systems for said COTS products. Assist in identifying and resolving system hardware and software issues in both test and production environments.

 

Your role in helping us shape the future:

  • Provide Level 1 support for the ground software for the operations of the satellite fleet.  Support in the deployment and maintenance of the hardware and software infrastructure of development, test, and production environments.  Lead in the deployment of the ground software to the test and production environments.  Support in identifying and resolving systems software and hardware issues in the test and production environments.  Assist in identifying and implementing system and process improvements.
  • Showcase your testing and troubleshooting skills to test and support our Ground Network System in close collaboration with IT Operations, development teams, Satellite engineer and operation teams.

 

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Participate in a team environment in validation of real-time telemetry processing, commanding and flight dynamic application systems, for COTS products. You will participate in critical Systems and Integration effort to make sure proposed systems and designs are compatible with current architecture and can be integrated into the current operational system.
  • Familiar with virtualization and containerization system (e.g., VMware, etc.)
  • Produce test procedures that adhere to Intelsat standards and which, when executed, comprehensively validate system interfaces, system performance and basic system functionality.
  • Assist in setting up, configuring, installing, and maintaining COTS software required to support satellite operations systems at all locations, including control centers (primary and backup), development labs, integration and test labs, program offices, and Engineers’ homes.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • On-call operations support as part of the rotating Level 1 Operations Support team, in this capacity you will identify and work with other teams to resolve systems software and hardware issues
  • Investigate and resolve the day-to-day operational issues reported by Level 1 Operations support.  Report unresolved issues to the COTS vendor for support.  Track those issues to resolution.
  • Coordinate with users the acceptance testing of systems in the test facility and support the deployment into production environment - Satellite Operations Center (SOC) or TTC&R earth station.
  • Participate in the critical design and requirement review and ensure that proposed system and design are compatible with current architecture and can be integrated to currently operational system.
  • Develop test plans and procedures. Provide guidance to other STO staff in developing more detailed test plans and test procedures.
  • Continuous monitoring of production environment for health and performance.

You should definitely have:

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent with at least 3 years work experience.
  • Linux skills. Script skills in bash, Perl, PowerShell, TCL/TK, etc.
  • Experience with Web-based architecture and Development, ASP.NET, Linux and Windows Webservers.
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • Experience with RDBM such as SQL, MySQL or ORACEL
  • Experience with Unit, subsystem and system level testing
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, Frameworks and Agile project and programming concepts.

 

It would be nice if you had:

  • Python, Java through modern IDEA.
  • Understanding of internet technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, JavaScript, JSON, XML and Data Web Services highly recommended.
  • Understanding of Satellite Telecommunications and RF technologies is considered a plus
