Your role in helping us shape the future:

You will play a critical role in driving positive earned media coverage of Intelsat’s differentiated business strategy, products, services and people and in collaborating with your colleagues on the Corporate Communications team to position the company for long-term success.

You will be primarily responsible for developing and executing Intelsat’s global media-outreach strategy and with cultivating “go-to” relationships with reporters from both industry trade publications and top-tier business, financial and technology news outlets.

We’re looking for someone who will be energetic, proactive and laser-focused on increasing the company’s share of voice in target news media outlets.

Are you up to the challenge?

  1. You have a keen sense what’s newsworthy, and you can quickly develop compelling media-outreach materials (pitches, infographics, b-roll, etc.) that get attention.
  2. You have experience working with members of the news media and successfully preparing senior leaders for print and broadcast media opportunities.
  3. You are a data-driven storyteller who is familiar with media-monitoring tools and passionate about using analytics to drive continuous improvement in your media engagement and content-generation strategies.

Can you drive these processes?

  • You will collaborate closely with Intelsat’s Global Social Media Manager to integrate earned media and social/digital strategies and to maximize the reach of the company’s owned and earned content.
  • You will collaborate closely with Intelsat’s Global Employee Communications Manager and marketing sales-enablement leads to ensure employees are aware of, understand and can effectively communicate corporate messaging around important external corporate and industry news.
  • You will support global corporate marketing activities, including promoting product launches and milestones, new service offerings, trade shows and satellite launches to the media.
  • You will manage the day-to-day deliverables of external support agencies and vendors.
  • You will manage the revamp of the corporate news-monitoring function, re-focusing and streamlining the daily internal news-clip report.
  • As a member of the Corporate Communications team, you will help to manage and maintain the corporate communications editorial calendar, corporate communications email inbox, corporate talking points library and other shared team resources.

You should definitely have:

  • A passion for media relations: this role is NOT for someone who wants to outsource their media relationships to an agency – it’s for someone who wants the freedom and flexibility to regularly meet with, engage with and identify effective ways to pitch members of the news media in order to drive positive coverage for the company. Agency resources exist, but they are designed to supplement the outreach efforts of the person in this role.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach to media: The individual in this role with rarely, if ever, go on the record with the news media. Rather, they will position company executives and SMEs as spokespeople and engage in frequent background conversations with reporters to help drive interest and frame stories.
  • A passion for storytelling: The Corporate Communications team is always searching for compelling stories about Intelsat’s people and differentiated offerings – we want someone who is eager to roll up their sleeves, jump in and assist us in that ongoing effort.
  • Strong writing skills: This role requires clear, concise, active-voice writing. Familiarity with writing news releases, advisories, holding statements, video scripts, executive briefing materials, executive speeches and other PR-related collateral a plus.
  • A desire to contribute: This role is a key contributor to a lean and fast-paced Corporate Communications team. We are looking for a teammate who isn’t afraid to bring new ideas, try new things and contribute to broader team planning and execution efforts.
  • Ideally, you’ll have a Bachelors’ degree in Marketing and/or Communications with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience doing media for a B2B or technology organization.
  • Experience providing communications support to senior executives/leaders.
  • Experience with crisis communications planning and response.
