Your role in helping us shape the future:

You are an experienced technical specialist who can lead a 24x7 operations team that responds to emergency and non-emergency service requests. You will ensure that teleport systems operate as required to provide the highest standard of service possible to Intelsat customers. You will supervise, track and coordinate complex Level 2 teleport maintenance activities.

In this role you will have the opportunity to use your strong technical competencies to serve as a Subject Matter Expert of the department and mentor junior team members.

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Having good leadership skills, you will guide and direct a team of specialists to ensure high quality of operations including maintenance and repair of all teleport equipment.
  • You direct staff activity when responding to operational service requests, including deviations to availability caused by safety, security, equipment, or ground system failure.
  • To ensure the maximum service availability at all times you oversee service performance monitoring.
  • Manage the implementation of Intelsat services, including, racking and stacking of equipment, cable fabrication and testing, and documentation updating. Use your technical expertise to lead technical resolution when performing emergency restoral actions on teleport equipment including antenna and baseband systems.
  • You review processes, trending analysis to increase operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Closely collaborate with Engineering department and Network Operations on an ongoing basis. 
  • Assist with development and enhancement of operation procedures and processes.
  • Review/audit system performance indicators, site spares, end-of-life and preventative maintenance programs in order to increase operational efficiency and reliability.
  • You share your advanced knowledge on specific teleport equipment and specialized Intelsat products to train your team members and enhance training materials.
  • You are the Go-To person for local tours, customer/vendor visits, and local issue discussions.
  • Promote Intelsat services to potential new customers.
  • Participate in the performance review process for staff, to include goal setting and performance evaluation.

Can you drive these processes?

  • Assist the Field Service Manager with all aspects of operational service, scheduling and support.
  • Review service logs for discrepancies and support the clear communication across operations by maintaining and generating reports.
  • Interface with Operation Centers, Engineering and Teleport Operations in the role of teleport support to facilitate implementation, repair or enhancement to the systems as required. 
  • Provide technical support to other groups as required.

 

You should definitely have:

  • Associates degree or equivalent technical certification required.
  • At least 7 years of experience working in a Teleport facility or an equivalent combination of education or experience required.
  • Proven experience in supervising teams as well as developing and motivating team members.  
  • Extensive working knowledge of RF theory, basic electronics and most of the major teleport systems.
  • Working knowledge of ancillary plant systems such as HVAC, UPS, electrical switchgear and generating systems.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in the use of industry standard test equipment.
  • Experienced with the use of trouble reporting and logging systems.
  • Aptitude towards learning new technologies, understand intricate technical concepts and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communications skills required, including the ability to convey complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Fluency in German and English.

 

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience in providing technical supervision and guidance in a 24x7 operational Teleport environment highly preferred.
