Your role in helping us shape the future:

Come join the RF/RAN Engineering team as a Senior Mobility Software Engineer. You will provide software tool development in C/C++, KML, and Linux scripting languages to control, analyze, and optimize mobility satellite operation on aircraft.

 

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Generate tools to create and validate control files which govern remote satellite operation
  • Create new simulation capabilities to enhance capacity management algorithms
  • Compare empirical and simulation data to improve simulation models
  • Extend simulation capabilities to generate control files from simulation results
  • Develop tools to visualize geographic performance of satellite networks to better understand, troubleshoot, predict, and tune satellite RAN networks
  • Create Apache Tomcat web pages on Linux to share RAN performance information
  • Provide satellite regulatory zone GIS support
  • Create new tools for converting geocoded data between GXT, KML, SQL, CSV and various simulation data file formats
  • Provide tools to enable other teams to perform root cause analysis to find and fix problems in existing satellite networks

Empower RF RAN engineering with new tools; drive profitability by inventing new capacity management algorithms; expand simulation capabilities to predict and design future networks; teach others how to leverage new tools and methods to increase productivity.

 

You should definitely have:

  • Minimum of 10 years of C/C++ experience in development of Unix/Linux-based tools
  • Expertise in Unix/Linux scripting languages such as bash, perl, python, make, etc.
  • GIS experience knowledgeable in geospatial calculations and presentation
  • Google Earth KML language experience for graphical information display
  • MariaDB, MySQL or similar Linux-based database and ODBC experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering
  • Self-motivated and ability to work well in cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills including technical documentation, written reports and delivery of presentations

 

It would be nice if you had:

  • Gilat or iDirect satellite infrastructure system configuration and performance experience
  • Satellite simulation or mobility project experience
  • Satellite modem hardware or firmware experience
  • Knowledge of satellite GXT EIRP and G/T file format standards
  • Computer graphics algorithm experience
  • Linux kernel development
  • Linux server administration
