Your role in helping us shape the future:

 

You will play a vital Quality leadership role as a member of the Quality Leadership team in the exciting future of inflight connectivity (IFC) and inflight entertainment (IFE) at Intelsat’s Commercial Aviation (Gogo) division.  You should have a burning desire to have a positive impact on the connected passenger experience, and ultimately help bring to life the same user experience available today from the living room couch to the passenger seat in the very near future.

 

You will be responsible for implementation, management, and continuous improvement of Gogo’s division-wide Quality Management System.  Your role will ensure the Intelsat’s Commerical Aviation (Gogo) division’s Quality Management System (QMS) and Operational Excellence system continues to deliver long-term leading performance globally that includes increasing mbps to the aircraft, gate to gate coverage and system availability end-end.

 

Are you up to the challenge?

 

  • Establish and maintain the Gogo Quality Management System (QMS) that ensures Gogo’s facilities, equipment, personnel, methods, processes, and procedures conform to both internal guidelines and regulatory/OEM standards (FAA, EASA, etc.)
  • Directs process and product testing to ensure materials, parts, and products comply with established quality standards and government regulations.
  • Evaluates the performance of the production processes, and the quality of resulting products to improve existing methods of operations.
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.
  • Conducts First Article Inspections (FAI) on new product introductions.
  • Lead a team of both Quality managers and Quality engineers.

Lead Best Practices in the Intelsat (Gogo) Quality Management System
 

•  Lead AS9100 and OEM compliance: On-going process verification, validation, and adoption of improvements

 

•  Implementing best practices in the Quality Management System optimizing for simplicity, clarity and effectiveness

 

•  Proactively drive organizational improvements through Internal Corrective Action Requests, metrics, and other tools

 

•  Process Evaluations, Internal Audits, Compliance Oversight

 

•  Certificate Management with AS9100 Registrar

 

•  Certificate Management with FAA MIDO/FSDO and foreign civil aviation authorities (i.e. EASA)

 

•  Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) management

 

Lead Quality Control

 

•  Product acceptance & shipping inspections

•  Conformity of Kits (First Article Inspection and Production Kit Inspection)

•  Manufacturing / Repair Station Quality

•  First Article Inspection Process

•  Material Review Board

•  Bring in best practices for consistency, quality, and efficiency of our inspection practices
 

Lead Configuration Management
 

•  Establish industry best practices in Configuration management with the engineering teams

•  Establish Configuration Management Policy and procedures

•  Manage Product Lifecycle Management tool

•  Establish communication and collaboration between internal teams and suppliers on configuration changes

•  Establish the required quality oversight to approve changes

•  Develop Metrics to assess efficiencies

 

You should definitely have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the stated minimum education and experience requirements.
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in a quality manager / director role or combination thereof
  • Working knowledge of quality system requirements, familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 standards.
  • Prior project engineering or design engineering experience.
     

It would be nice if you had:

•  MBA/Master’s degree is a plus

•  Previous experience in the Inflight Connectivity / Inflight Entertainment industry is a plus

•  FAA Part 21 and Part 145 Regulatory experience is a plus

•  EASA Part 21 and Part 145 Regulatory experience is a plus

•  FAA Designee experience is a plus

•  Knowledge and working experience of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Orders, Guidance, Directives, etc. for Commercial Airplanes is a plus

•  Certification in Six Sigma, Lean or equivalent with demonstrated application of the skills and business results preferred

•  Knowledge and experience in leading Configuration Management initiatives a plus

•  Strong personnel development skills

•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
